DALAKETNON

In Philippine mythology In Visayas, Dalaketnon is believed to be a race of handsome and beautiful creatures resembling nobles and monarchs of the Pre-Hispanic Philippines. They are said to dwell on Dalakit trees (Balete, Dakit), hence the name Dalakitnon, which literally means ''From the Dalakit or Dakit tree." The tree is considered a portal or gateway to their own realms. According to local lore, they form a beautiful "enchanted race" with attractive features. This mythological race exhibits sexual dimorphism, with men having light-colored skin and very dark hair, and women having bronze-brown skin and brown hair. Stories also mention their leaf-shaped pointy ears.

In modern stories, both creatures are often depicted as extremely good-looking pale beings dressed in regalia similar to the principalía or noble class during the Spanish occupation of the Philippines. They host grand feasts or dinners, tempting humans to partake in the food, and once consumed, the humans are said to be trapped or enslaved in the other world.
